Most traders meet CPR through a YouTube clip or a single indicator on TradingView. They plot three lines, trade the first touch, and wonder why it works on some days and fails on others. The lines are not the problem. The missing piece is a framework for deciding which CPR days deserve a trade at all.
That gap is what my CPR trading book, Leading Indicator for Intraday Trading, is meant to close. This page explains what the book covers, walks through the CPR concepts you should understand before opening it, and lists every place you can read or buy it.
The CPR trading book is Leading Indicator for Intraday Trading, a Trading Direction title that presents the Central Pivot Range as a way to read intraday market structure. It sits in a collection of nine books by Anil Hanegave covering intraday trading, CPR, price action, options, swing trading and trading psychology.

You will learn how to use the Central Pivot Range as a structured way to read intraday price behaviour, instead of treating it as three lines to trade blindly. Based on the book's description, the focus is on these areas:
Check the sample or "Look Inside" preview (see below) for the exact chapter list of your edition, since editions can differ.
CPR is calculated from three numbers of the previous session: high (H), low (L) and close (C). These are the foundation concepts the framework builds on.
Pivot (P) = (H + L + C) / 3
Bottom Central (BC) = (H + L) / 2
Top Central (TC) = (P − BC) + P
Many pivot tools also plot R1 = 2P − L and S1 = 2P − H as the first resistance and support beyond the range.
A narrow CPR means TC and BC sit close together, which traders often read as a sign that price may trend. A wide CPR means a broad zone, which often goes with rotational, range-bound trade. In the example above the width is only about 26.7 points, so compared with recent sessions it would look narrow. There is no single universal cut-off; compare today's width with the last 5–10 sessions.
Comparing today's CPR with yesterday's tells you where value is shifting. Higher CPR suggests bullish bias, lower CPR suggests bearish bias, and overlapping CPR suggests indecision. Treat this as context, never as a signal on its own.
A CPR trade needs confirmation from price action, a defined stop loss and a target with acceptable risk-reward. The checklist below is an educational framework, not a recommendation.
When not to trade: when price keeps crossing the CPR with overlapping candles, when a big gap has already used up the move, or during major event volatility such as budget or results days.
| Mistake | Why it hurts | Practical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Trading every touch of TC or BC | Price often chops through the zone | Wait for a close and retest |
| Ignoring CPR width | Wide-CPR days rarely trend cleanly | Classify width before the open |
| No fixed stop loss | One bad trade erases many good ones | Define stop before entry |
| Using CPR alone | A single tool misses context | Pair it with price action and volume |
| Expecting certainty | CPR shows probabilities, not guarantees | Risk a small, fixed amount per trade |
Study one concept at a time in this order: Concept → Chart logic → Example → Common mistake → Practical fix. That order turns reading into skill.
Our free CPR and price-action checklist PDF is a good companion for that journalling step.
You can preview the book before buying, so you know the teaching style suits you. Choose the book if you prefer to read at your own pace and revisit concepts, and choose a course if you want to watch live chart examples. The Intraday Trading Mastery Package (12 intraday strategies plus the CPR V3 indicator) builds on the same CPR framework. Many readers start with the book and add video later. For a wider view of the indicator itself, see our CPR indicator guide on the blog.

No book can promise profits. It can teach a structured way to read the market, but results depend on your practice, discipline and risk management.
Learn the three CPR levels, classify every session by width and relation to the previous day, and take a trade only when price action confirms and the stop loss is defined. Read the book chapter by chapter, journal your trades, and let the framework prove itself on paper first.
Pick the edition that suits you and preview it first.
